NWI SHRM 2014 Scholarship Recipients:

Christina Wall- A Human Resource Management major at Purdue University Calumet, Christina is expecting to receive her BS degree in two years.  She is currently a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and has focused her volunteer time utilizing her HR skills within the non-profit’s organization.  Christina hopes to build relationships in Northwest Indiana based on trust and respect.    She believes being a part of SHRM has taught her that effective communication is the foundation of personal and business relationships and success in today’s market.  Marsha Counts, Volunteer Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity says that “Christina has great work values and her performance as a professional in Northwest Indiana will reflect these values in a positive manner.”

 

Holly Harris- Holly is a Human Resource Management student at Purdue University North Central who has been as SHRM Student Chapter member for one year.   Holly plans to utilize her HR degree to envision a clear direction for her employer and communicate plans to motivate others.  In her current position as HR Assistant, Holly explains company policy to employees and conducts new employee orientation.  It is her desire to guide employees in their current professional roles and ensure they are on the right path.  Dr. E. Anne Christo-Baker, PNC, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Leadership, states that Holly besides her active in involvement with the NWI SHRM Student Chapter, she has proved to be a highly motivated student and performed well academically and has demonstrated the qualities of leadership, dedication and commitment for excellence.
